MANILA, Philippines - The country’s ace karters bring their hostilities to the narrow, high-speed Boomland Kart Track as the 2011 Petron Karting Super Series stages its third leg today at the CCP Complex.
Fern-C Racing brothers VJ and RR Suba seek a repeat of their feat in Batangas as they try to boost their respective title bids in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by Petron, San Miguel Corporation, Denso Iridium Power, Motorstar Eastway and Yokohama Philippines.
VJ is eyeing another win following his impressive triumph using a borrowed engine from Kart Plaza to improve his title chances. He’s currently third over in the ROK Overall and ROK Senior classes with 99 and 81 points, respectively.
Younger brother RR is second in the ROK overall division with 95 points as he also tries to maintain his solo leadership in the ROK novice division where he already garnered 122 points.
However, frontrunning defending champion Stefano Marcelo of Maranello-San Miguel Corp.-Marcelo Racing vowed to bounce back to firm up his bid for an unprecedented fourth Karter of the Year award.
He now holds 101 points.
or a slim six-point margin over Suba. He also leads the ROK Senior division with 117 points, or an 11-point gap over Franco Reyes of Jet Racing.
Ready2Race karters Roby Benito and Juha Turalba are also raring to steal the spotlight as they join the combined ROK field that includes Jette Calderon of Jet Racing, Arvin Drueco, Archim Lagman, Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier-Marcelo Racing, CJ Tsui of Tuason Racing, Marino Sato and FERN-C Racing’s Estefano Rivera and Matthew Chan.
