AFP, CJH pull away in Asian Ladies

-

Manila, Philippines - Armed Forces of the Phils. Golf Club continued to stamp its class in the eighth Asian Ladies Team Golf Championship, assembling a second round 150 to all but wrap up its second straight championship at the Camp John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City last Wednesday.

Matet Salivio slowed down a bit with a 55 after a 56 but Josie Untal and Karen Kime improved with 48 and 47, respectively, as the AFP squad totaled a 295 aggregate and more than doubled its first round lead of 20 points over Tagaytay Highlands with a 47-point bulge heading into the final round of the 54-hole event using the Molave scoring system.

Mabel Salivio didn’t count for the second straight day with a 42, which could anchor any team in the four-to-play, three-to-count tournament sponsored by Golforce, Poblador Bautista & Reyes Law Offices, Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Camp John Hay Manor, Le Chef, Camp John Hay Development Corp., Rizgolf Sports Marketing and Boracay Sands.

Manila Southwoods scored a 124 for joint third with Camp John Hay (127) while Forest Hills Nicklaus made a 121 for a 228 in Group 1 of the tournament supported by Dusit Thani Manila, Sherwood Hills Golf Club, Forest Hills Golf Club, Unionbank, Federal Management and Manpower, Inc., University of Baguio, Addessa Corp. and Hill Station Restaurant.

With a 111 aggregate, Salivio also poised to run away with the Group 1 individual title as she posted a 19-point lead over Manila Southwoods’ Beachie Abiera, who had a 92, the same outputs by teammates Untal and Kime.
