Suntrust Cup under way at Sherwoods Hills

Manila, Philippines - The inaugural staging of the Suntrust Cup tees off today with more than 200 participants vying for top honors and fabulous raffle prizes at the Jack Nicklaus signature course of Sherwood Hills in Trece Martires, Cavite.

A Texas Eagle golf cart, a golf set each from Wilson and Mizuno and a GPS Tracker are hole-in-one prizes in the one-day, three-man scramble format invitational co-presented by Beneficial Life Insurance Co. and Trinity Insurance Brokers, Inc..              

The event’s platinum sponsors are Alcon Advertising, CA Exhibits, Davies Paints, Golforce, Jims Engineering, MCS Const. Corp., NLRP Exhibit, Resorts World Manila, Sagada Const. Dev. Corp., and Turf Company (Texas Eagle).

Set to join the event is Harry Paltongan of new club owner Suntrust Properties Inc. (SPI), which is hoping to create a good impression to its members and guests and the whole Suntrust family and to make this a prestigious invitational in the future.

SPI, through the guidance of Paltongan, has been undertaking new developments to make Sherwood Hills a truly first-class golf hub like the way it was in 2007-08 when it was voted No. 1 in Southeast Asia, No. 8 in Asia and No. 85 in the world by Golf Digest Magazine.

Among the plans of SPI is to fast-track the construction of the additional nine holes to increase the Nicklaus layout to 27 plus a mini-golf facility, a fishing wharf and a swimming pool for the enjoyment of Sherwood Hills’ members and guests.
