-

MANILA, Philippines - Taguig goes for the South Zone berth in the Inter-Zonal phase of the second Coca-Cola Hoopla National Capital Region Championship as it collides with Pasay today at the Duenas gym in Signal, Taguig.

Gametime is at 6 p.m. with Taguig, which wrapped up the Inter-City competition with a 6-2 slate, needing just a win to join Quezon City (East), Caloocan (North), Antipolo (West) and Mandaluyong (Central) in the two-round semifinals.

The team ranked No. 5 after the Inter-Zonals is eliminated with Nos. 1 and 4, and Nos. 2 and 3 playing each other. The Nos. 1 and 2 teams hold twice-to-beat edges.

Winners of the crossover matches clash in a best-of-three series for the 2011 NCR title and the P250,000 top prize.

In Monday’s matches, Pasay routed Parañaque, 66-34, while Taguig crushed Las Piñas, 82-68, as Armin Santos scored 20 points and John Pumares had 17 markers.

Pasay and dethroned champion Muntinlupa actually ended tied with 5-3 slates, but Pasay gained a playoff with Taguig after beating Muntinlupa twice in the Inter-City leg.
