Yes Pogi easy choice in PCSO Silver Cup

-

MANILA, Philippines- Multi-titled Yes Pogi starts as overwhelming choice over five others in today’s staging of the 16th Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office Silver Cup at the Santa Ana Park in Naic, Cavite.

Winner of the big ones including the prestigious Presidential Gold Cup last year, Yes Pogi takes on Go Army, Thotis Best, Rightthererightnow, Darleb and Shining Armour in a 2,000-meter race as he seeks his second stakes victory this season.

Veteran Manolito Daquis will handle the reins for Yes Pogi, who is highly expected to beat this same bunch of contenders whom he easily dispatched when they met in the Philracom Commissioner’s Cup last March.

In that particular race, Yes Pogi, son of imported parents Rum Tum Tiger and Belle Epoque, beat Rightthererightnow by almost 10 lengths over 1,900 meters in an overpowering win that recalled his exploits in 2010.

His conquest of the Gold Cup, coupled with victories in two legs of the Triple Crown easily won for him the much-coveted horse of the year award last year.

Top prize is P1.1 million out of the total pot of P1.8 million put up by the PCSO under general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas. Second and third prizes are worth P350,000 and P175,000, respectively.

Yes Pogi has been doing well in workouts, prompting his handlers to expect a fine showing from the gray galloper whose only loss so far this season came last month when he was beaten by second choice Juggling Act in the Diamond 1 stakes race.
