Hope surprises Ateneo in FCBL

MANILA, Philippines - Hope Christian High School notched its third straight win by upending UAAP champion Ateneo, 80-76, in the fourth FCBL Freego Cup at the Buddhacare Gym in Quezon City over the weekend.

Errol Villar and Raymond Tan starred for Hope Christian as they scored 18 and 12 points, respectively, including a combined 10-point splurge in the last period to thwart the Eaglets’ comeback.

With the win, Hope Christian improved to 3-1 in the tournament backed by Powerbest Mktg. Inc., Colt Commercial, Old Chinatown Kopitiam, Mandarin Sky

Seafood Shabu-Shabu Restaurant, Jumbo Plastic Linolium, Oceanic Container Lines, Inc., Fresh Gear, Apple Tape and Happe Toothpaste.

Tan went on to win the Freego Player of the Game award while three other Hope Christian players scored in double figures, including King Benemerito and Don Mendoza, who combined for 24 points.

The Eaglets, who dropped to 1-2, were led by Anton Asistio and Tomas Ramos, who fired 17 points apiece.

In the other game, Adamson barged into the win-column after back-to-back losses as it downed Far Eastern University, 80-73.

Carl dela Cruz took the Freego Player of the Game honors as he shot 13 points.

William Madlos, Alwin Felias and Eljay Domingo also scored in double figures for FEU.
