Cayco brothers firm up bids, stamp class in drag racing

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Cayco brothers – Teofilo Edwin and Edison – stamped their marks as one of the big names in the drag racing scene as the two H3 Autoworks stalwarts unleased a gallant stand up against the favorites recently in the Petron Northern Series-2011 National Drag Racing Championship at the Clark International Speedway.

The win was an advance gift for Teofilo Edwin Cayco who’ll be celebrating his birthday on May 30. He finally hogged the limelight with his first season triumph - a fitting follow-up to his runner-up feat in the second leg to stay in strong contention for the Quick 8 crown with the support of Rurex Turbocharger Specialist, Edmel Engineering Services, Bong Hilario H3 Autoworks, RDJ Tuning Solutions, Southice Production and Autoplus-Motul/ Dyno Testing.

He clocked a fast 11.595 seconds to turn back Peng Diaz and H3 Autoworks teammate Pepi Santos, who still leads the hunt for the Quick 8 crown with 35 points.

He likewise bagged a back-to-back triumph in the Super Pro class, thus stretching his lead to 40 points up against William Hand and defending champion Jonathan Tiu who holds 15 and 10 points, respectively.

Edison Cayco, on the other hand, clinched the runner-up finish in the Pro class that preserved his solo leadership with 21 points or five points ahead of Norman de la Peña, who tallied 16. Martin Manalo, who won the race, and actor-speedster Allen Dizon share third place with 15 points apiece.

“So far, so good. We’re so blessed this season that things are going our way. Hopefully, we’ll wrap up the season completing the goals we want to achieve this season,” said Teofilo Edwin Cayco.
