MANILA, Philippines - Powerhouse Adamson and University of Santo Tomas sustained their winning streaks in the 2011 Cebuana Lhuillier-ASAPHIL Summer Grandslam Softball Invitational Championship as competition resumed following heavy rains in the first two days of the tournament in La Trinidad, Benguet.
Adamson posted back to back wins to go with its opening day victory over the University of Cordillera to lead its group in women’s play of the tourney co-presented by Chooks To Go.
Defending champion UST kept pace with Adamson by following up an opening-day victory over BSU with an 11-0 blanking of ENTOM.
ENTOM split its two games in the day, winning over Benguet, 13-0.
BSU had a win to show against two previous losses, defeating University of Cordillera, 7-0.
At the bottom of Group A were UC and Benguet, both winless in two outings.
In Group B, Manila opened its campaign with a 10-1 beating of University of the Philippines and a 13 -6 victory over the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. PUP evened its record with an easy 7-0 win over BESAO.
The men’s side had Marikina leading its group with two wins. The Apol Rosales-led team beat Fongwan, 20-1, on opening day and roared past La Trinidad, 15-1, two days later.
