MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Southwoods seniors trimester birthday bash golf tournament gets going today with a number of senior chapter members and guests vying for top honors in various divisions at Southwoods’ Masters course in Carmona, Cavite.

The 18-hole tournament, put up by the Manila Southwoods seniors chapter, headed by president Jose Cedo and vice president Paco Gonzalez, for the third straight year to honor senior members whose birthdays fall on every trimester of the year, will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Competitions will be individual medal play with the field to be divided into Groups I, II, III and the Super Seniors (70 years-old and above) with fabulous prizes at stake for the top two net winners in each category.

The event, presented annually by Anako Phils., Fumaco, Inc. and Yamaha by Kart Plaza and also held to foster camaraderie and friendship among the seniors chapter members, will have Romago, Inc., Vantage Point and Asia Pacific Golf Corp. as event presentor with Warbird Security and Red Eagle Lending Investors, Inc. as the annual hole sponsors.

The other backers as hole sponsors are CG Airconditioning, Camp John Hay Golf Club, Philips Altus Communications, Tocoms Philippines, Inc. and Rudy Project Phils.

The second trimester tournament of the event, which kicked off in 2009 through the initiative of the late president of the seniors chapter Ben Borja, will be held in August while the last is slated in November in time for the Seniors Chapter Annual Meeting and pre-Christmas celebrations.
