Mosley also predicts KO
LAS VEGAS – Shane Mosley wants to score a knockout because that’s what his trainer, Naazim Richardson, wants.
“My coach says we’re gonna knock Manny out,” said the 39-year-old who’s hardly being given a chance to beat Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Saturday.
But he doesn’t care about what the odds say, that he’s a 6-1 underdog, or that the only question is how long the fight’s going to last, in favor of Pacquiao.
Freddie Roach said it could be over in seven rounds.
“But my team says the same thing. So, if these people say the same thing then it’s going to be a good fight,” said Mosley.
Richardson, a top-caliber trainer, had grown tired hearing and reading stories that Mosley, pushing forty, is too old to be a champion once more.
“We have a tendency to forget and we keep hearing about his age and that it’s a factor. We’re not talking about an ordinary guy who’s getting older,” he said.
“If Michael Jordan was here he can beat anyone among us one-on-one.”
He said Mosley doesn’t have to match up with Pacquiao, particularly with his speed, because they’ll be coming in a different approach.
“Shane has his own set of weapons. Just don’t count a man out because of his age,” Richardson said.
Yes, anything can happen in this fight.
