Averion tops AGC

Manila, Philippines - Darwin Averion scored 39 points to hold off Alarico Salangsang and capture the Group I crown while Jackneil So pocketed the Group II diadem in the Architects Golf Club monthly golf tournament at Mt. Malarayat recently.

Averion shot a gross 85 for a net 70 and 39 Stableford points, two clear off Salangsang. Andres Vasquez finished third with 34 points from a gross 87.

So fired 38 points to beat Sanny Santiago (35) for the Group II title in the event sponsored by Boysen Paints.

Robbie Ruelos made a gross 95 worth 37 points as he edged Larry Chua, who had 36 from a gross 96, for the Group III crown. Noel Santiago shot 35 points for third.

Abillardo Tan took the Group IV crown with 37 points from a gross 106, nipping Jocelyn Arcenas, who had a gross 109 worth 35 points. Leonardo Antonio placed third with 30 points from a gross 111.

Nestor Reyes copped the seniors plum with 37 points from a gross 95, nipping Remigio Abello, who also had 37 points from a gross 97, and Romulo de Jesus Jr., who had a gross 103 for another 37, via the lower handicap rule.
