Manila Bay run July 17

-

Manila, Philippines - The first Manila Bay Clean-Up fun run will be held July 17 with Manila Broadcasting Company spearheading the project aimed at implementing a sustainable approach to cleaning and protecting marine and coastal resources.

The event features races in the 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K divisions for both men and women with cash prizes and trophies awaiting the top finishers in each division.

The champion in the centerpiece 21K run will get P20,000 while the winner in the 10K will receive P10,000. The 5K and 3K champions will take home P5,000 and P3,000, respectively, with the biggest delegation also set to receive a special award.

A designated registration desk will be set up beginning May 9 at the MBC lobby at CCP Complex and at ROX on Bonifacio High Street at Global City in Taguig. Deadline for registration is on June 19 at 5 p.m.

As a solid manifestation of corporate social responsibility, MBC volunteers have joined their counterparts from other establishments based along Roxas Boulevard for Land Bank’s Manila Bay Clean-Up Program since 2009.

Land Bank’s program also features the procurement of a garbage boat that will move daily to gather debris along the bay area from the Philippine Navy/Manila Yacht Club Basin to Manila Ocean Park.

While these initiatives will not totally solve environmental sanitation problems in the country’s premier international gateway, reduction of rubbish will help minimize pollutants, which will have an impact in the long run.

Backing the event are Smart Communications, Naproxin Sodium, M. Lhuillier, Cobra Energy Drink, Enervon, and 100 Plus.
