Holy Child five joins Seaoil Elite League
MANILA, Philippines - Holy Child School of Davao beat Assumption College of Davao, 90-76, at the Emcor gym recently to advance to the SEAOIL Elite League set next month in Bacolod City.
Levi de la Cruz, Zairill Carbonell and Edgar Lim combined for 38 of their team’s points to clinch one of the 16 teams in May 22-25 finals.
Alvin Pasaol, who led Assumption with 16, combined with Ranjo Jison and RJ Maneja as they cut Holy Child’s lead to just four with five minutes left in the contest.
But Ian Restauro hit a triple and Holy Child countered a 15-5 run to pull away.
The tournament is backed by SEAOIL Philippines supported by B-Meg, Magnolia Inc., Magnolia Ice Cream, Purefoods Hormel, San Miguel Foods Inc. (Monterey), San Mig Coffee, Burlington, Freego Jeans and Molten under the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
The tournament, also known as the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Elite League or NBTC Elite League, drew 168 teams made up of 3,024 players and 336 coaches from all across the country.
The three-year sponsorship commitment of SEAOIL will allow the league to push its program to identify, prepare and develop young players for youth national teams. The participating teams are trained under the same module that will focus on fundamentals while coaches will also benefit from regular coaching seminars to be held at the competition areas.
