Foreign, Phl riders vie in moto series

-

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s elite riders, led by Glenn Aguilar, Jovie Saulog and Donark Yuzon, slug it out with a crack international field in the Enersel Forte Philippine National Motocross Series beginning today in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

American John Locks and German siblings Daniel and Kai Sedlak have vowed to foil the local bets’ bid in the premier Open division of the two-day event serving as the kickoff leg of the four-stage series dubbed the “Motocross World Cup” organized by Sel-J Sports.

Daniel Sedlak, 22, has an impressive track record, having won the grueling Dubai Motocross Championships in 2007.

“We invite moto fans to a weekend of thrills and gravity-defying action featuring not only our best riders but also some of the leading names in international motocross racing,” said businessman and Sel-J Sports president B.J. Lacnit in yesterday’s press launch at the Rembrandt Hotel in Quezon City.

“This series is part of our continuing commitment to revive local motocross racing because we believe this is one sport where Filipinos have already proven they are among the world’s best,” Lacnit said.

Also gracing the event, sponsored by Enersel Forte, Therasil, Bridgestone tires and Team Pacquiao, were Therasil multivitamin users such as matinee idol Sam Milby, TV host Janeena Chan and pro cager Alex Crisano.

The other backers of the series are Sta. Barbara Mayor Dennis Superficial, Gov. Kua, Gov. Dimaporo and the town council.

The Iloilo stop of the Motocross World Cup is the first of four international competitions integrated into the 12-leg circuit with the grand finale slated Dec. 10-11 in Tubud, Lanao del Norte.
