Reyes claims top honors in interclub golf

MANILA, Philippines - Alabang rode on the solid game of Jama Reyes to claim the centerpiece Division I crown while Aguinaldo and Navy captured the lower divisions in the recent 2011 ICTSI-JGFP Interclub golf championship at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club in Laurel, Batangas.

Reyes put together rounds of 52, 44 and 53 points in leading the assault for Alabang and copping the boys individual plum in the 54-hole tourney kicking off the ICTSI-backed summer circuit of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.

Andres Saldana (51-47-48), Sebastian Lorenzo (49-49-52) and Gabriel Manotoc (39-38-47) joined hands with Reyes in scoring 445 points for Alabang to rout the Division I field. Southwoods 1 finished 54 points behind at 391.

Adric Chan powered Aguinaldo 4 to a two-point win over Navy 3 in Division 2 while Navy teams completed a 1-2 finish in Division 3 play held at the Royale Tagaytay course.

The tournament is supported by Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzling Pepper, Chevrolet, PAL, Pisanti, Golf Depot, Pacsports, Livescoresph, Duty Free, Coca-Cola, San Miguel Beer, Friends of Jungolf and McDonald’s.

Chan, playing in Class D, scored 48-44-52 for three days as Aguinaldo which also included Kristoffer Arevalo, Adrian Romero and Carl Corpus made 399 to beat the Kenneth Won-led Navy 3 (397).

The quartet of Josh Jorge, Arnie Taguines, Andre Yuchengco and Miles Conding proved too much for fellow Navy players Ken Shibata, Annika Salustiano, Francis Kyle Pepping and Sunshine Zhang as they finished 45 points apart, 183-138.

Joining Reyes and Chan as individual champs were Maan Legaspi (137) of Southwoods 1 in girls Class A, Lorenzo and Princess Superal (148) in Class B, Won (144) and Mia Legaspi (148) of Tat Filipinas 1 in Class C, Samantha Bruce of Navy 3 in Class D, Jorge and Salustiano in Class E and Shibata and Taguines in Class F.

The circuit moves to the Sherwood Hills Golf Club for the second leg starting Tuesday.
