NatGeo Earth Day Run listup ends April 3
MANILA, Philippines - Deadline for registration for the National Geographic Channel’s Earth Day Run (EDR) is on April 3 with the registry hitting close to 5,000 with still 10 days left before the event is fired off on April 10 at the Bonifacio Global City.
Although the organizers have closed the on-line listup, on-site registration remains open at the NatGeo EDR booth at the left wing ground floor of Greenbelt 3 in Makati City till Sunday.
Fees are pegged at P600, P700 and P900 for the 3K, 5K and 10K races, respectively, and P1,150 for the new 21K event, inclusive of a NatGeo EDR limited edition technical shirt.
The four-race, fund-raising race event, put up by National Geographic Channel (NGC) in partnership with Greenbelt and Bonifacio Global City, is staged not only to promote physical fitness and wellness but also to create awareness about caring for the planet and saving the environment.
Proceeds of the event, backed by Petron Turbo Diesel, Canon, Prudential Guarantee, 1st Endurance and Cushe, will also support the construction of the Mind Museum project in Taguig City.
In last year’s inaugurals, the NatGeo EDR supported the Design Against the Elements (DatE), a global architectural design contest that aims to provide a solution to the problems presented by climate change.
FOX International Channels Territory director Jude Turcuato said they expect the field to double last year’s turnout with running becoming the hottest sport or activity in the country today with fun runs and competitive races held almost weekly nationwide.
With the 21k added this year, the event has attracted not only the students, professionals, celebrities, health buffs and weekend runners but also the serious mid- and long-distance runners.
