Davao, Lakay MMA duel up in URCC
MANILA, Philippines - Davao City tries to establish itself as the country’s newest power in mixed martial arts (MMA) as it fields in two top fighters against the fancied Team Lakay MMA bets in the Universal Reality Combat Championship-Colt 45’s “Collision XIX” on April 2 at the World Trade Center.
Angelito “Saint” Manguray heads Davao City’s bid as he stakes his lightweight crown against Honorio “Rock” Banario in the event sponsored by Tribal Gear, PCSO and Chris Sports.
A dentist by profession, Manguray has been undefeated in the URCC, winning most of his fights by knockout. He also made an impressive debut in Martial Combat in Singapore last year.
But he will have his hands full against Banario, out to become the fourth fighter from Lakay MMA to win a title in the event backed by Solar Sports, 99.5RT, Frenzy Condoms, Yoshinoya and VRP Medical Center.
Focus will also be on the flyweight clash between Davao City’s Isaac Tuling and reigning champion Kevin “Silencer” Belingon.
The 10-fight event will be headlined by the pinweight showdown between reigning titlist Roy “Punisher” Docyogen of Lakay MMA and YawYan Buhawi’s Alvin “Sindikato” Ramirez.
