MANILA, Philippines - The NatGeo Earth Day Run (EDR) 2011 on April 10 will not only be a regular weekend race to promote physical fitness and wellness but also stir up awareness on the need to care about the planet and help save the environment.
“We Filipinos care a lot about our health. This time, let’s show our planet we care about its health,” said FOX International Channels Territory director Jude Turcuato as he extends his invitation to students, professionals, athletes, celebrities, health buffs and the whole family to join the event at Bonifacio Global City.
On-line listup is available at www.natgeorun.com until tomorrow while on-site registration is ongoing at the NatGeo EDR booth at the left wing ground floor of Greenbelt 3 in Makati City until April 3. Fees are pegged at P600 (3K), P700 (5K), P900 (10K) and P1,150 (21K), inclusive of a NatGeo EDR limited edition technical shirt.
The registry roster has picked up the past few days with the organizing Event King Corp. confident of doubling the turnout in last year’s inaugurals of the event put up by National Geographic Channel (NGC) in partnership with Greenbelt.
In fact, a 21K race has been added into this year’s race to give in to requests of thousands of middle distance runners, making it a four-category event. The other races are the 3K and 5K fun runs and the 10K competition.
Thousands have joined the running bandwagon the last few years with fun races and competitive events held almost every other week.
But this particular fund-raising event, backed by Petron Turbo Diesel, Canon and Cushe, is far more different from the rest since it underscores the need to care about the environment.
