RnW five, Cobra eye win No. 2

MANILA, Philippines – RnW Pacific Pipes and Cobra Energy Drink take on separate rivals today, looking for their second straight victories and the lead in their respective groups in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at The Arena in San Juan.

Although it downed PC Gilmore on opening day, RnW Pacific is expected to encounter stiff resistance against Dioceldo Sy-owned Black Water, out to bounce back from a 90-100 setback to Pharex last week.

Gametime is at 2 p.m. with RnW eyeing the early lead in Group A of the two-division group featuring 14 teams.

Cobra Energy Drink, meanwhile, squares off with Junior Powerade at 4 p.m., seeking the lead in Group B after turning back Maynilad, 78-70.

“This is a good confidence boost for the players,” said Cobra coach Lawrence Chongson of their opening game victory. “This is a short tournament so hopefully we could sustain our momentum.”

The Junior Tigers, built around the core of the UP Maroons, bowed to the FCA Cultivators, 89-74, in their debut last March 15 but vowed to bounce back to get into the thick of things.
