Patrombon loses title bid anew

- Joey Villar -

MANILA, Philippines - Jeson Patrombon took another final heartbreaker as he bowed to second seed Andrew Whittington of Australia, 4-6, 6-7(3), in the 17th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup Tennis Championship in Kuching, Malaysia yesterday. It was the second straight final setback by the 17-year-old Patrombon, who also fell short of his title bid in another Grade 1 tournament in Thailand last week. The Iligan City pride ended up with 100 ITF ranking points in the singles and another 75 for a runner-up effort in the doubles. Patrombon, meanwhile, heads the local challenge against a crack international field in the Mitsubishi Lancer Junior tennis tournament at the Rizal Tennis Center in Manila this week.
