In This Corner

MANILA, Philippines - A tribute to two venerable men of boxing and the PBF super-featherweight championship bout between Jose Ocampo and Mike Tumbaga headline tonight’s special episode of Rod Nazario’s In This Corner over NBN-4 from 7-8 p.m.

Primetime television’s longest running boxing show presented by Ginebra San Miguel, San Miguel Beer, Purefoods, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and Petron, starts off by paying homage to veteran boxing judge Ricardo Canlas, who died early morning of March 6 a few hours after working on his last fight. Among the prominent contests he judged include boxing star Manny Pacquiao’s 2004 meeting with Fahsang 3K Battery held in Taguig.

A four-round preliminary then follows the tribute as Vergel Puton battles Benjie Suganob.

The program later on pays its last respect to World Boxing Council (WBC) founding secretary-general Atty. Rudy Salud, who passed away last March 7. Also once the secretary-general of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), Salud likewise served as manager of former two-time world champion Gerry Penalosa and Z Gorres.

The program caps the week’s edition with the 10-round title fight between Ocampo and Tumbaga.
