Youth rapid chess slated

MANILA, Philippines –  Top real estate company Alphaland will hold a summer chess youth tournament next month with a big field expected to see action at the Alphaland Southgame Mall at EDSA cor. Chino Roces Ave. extension in Makati City.

Dubbed the Alphaland Summer Youth Rapid chess tournament, the six-round event will be held April 3, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. It is open to all non-titled players who are bonafide elementary and high school students.

Listup is ongoing with fee pegged at P150 (for advance registrants) and P200 (for on-site entries). All participants must present valid school IDs or certificate of enrolment from school registrars. For details, contact Alex Dinoy at 0922-8288510.

Shell National Youth Active chess kiddies champion Christian Nañola and NCR Palarong Pambansa qualifier Daryl Unix Samantila head the early roster of players competing in the Swiss system tournament sponsored by Alphaland Corp.

Early entrants also include students from the La Immaculada Concepcion School and nearby provinces like Laguna, Cavite, Rizal and Batangas.
