MANILA, Philippines –  The Philippine Sports Commission, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), will conduct seminar-training for women-athletes, coaches and employees today in line with the celebration of the International Women’s Month at the PSC Badminton Hall.

“With the theme ‘Babae, Kapuso ka ng Bayan,’ the program aims to inspire more women to be self-reliant by exploring alternative avenues for livelihood and at the same time prioritizing health and wellness,” said Olympian and commissioner-in-charge Akiko Thomson-Guevara.

A lecture on basic entrepreneurship will be conducted by Dr. Edward Layson of De La Salle University and Harvard Law School and hands-on trainings on perfume-making, meat processing and detergent-making will be handled by experts from DSWD.

A cheering competition and fun games will be held to promote camaraderie and friendship among participants in the program backed by Pacific Online Systems, Inc., International Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Omega pro and Casino rubbing alcohol), King Bee Chinese Food and F Salon and Spa Adriatico Branch.

Meanwhile, women athletes, coaches and employees have availed themselves of the free medical check-ups, including blood chemistry, breast ultrasound and pap smear at the University Physicians Medical Center at the PGH Compound recently.
