Puerto Princesa to stage FIM motocross masters leg

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine leg of the FIM Motocross Masters of Asia will be held March 27 with the top motocross riders from various national motorcycle federations comprising FIM Asia, seeing action in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

The hosts are now putting the final touches on the 1.2-km racetrack to comply with the FIM’s technical and safety standards in time for the big event.

No less than Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn and National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association president Macky Carapiet are overseeing the preparations on the racetrack.

Riders, teams and race officials from Japan, China, Hong Kong, Chinese-Taipei, India, Iran, Mongolia, Thailand, Guam, Australia have confirmed their participation in the event backed by the City of Puerto Princesa, Oakley, Polisports, Colt 45 and Spyder Helmets.

Asian MX2 defending champion Tomoya Suzuki tries to become the series’ first back-to-back champion although he faces a formidable field that includes Iran’s Amirreza Sabetifar, Mongolia’s Khadbaatar Temuujin, India’s C.S. Santosh, Thailand’s Arungkrung Pinpon and fellow Japanese rider Takeshi Tabuchi.

The Philippines will be led by reigning National Motocross Rider of the Year Kenneth San Andres, Ralph Ramento, Mark Flores and Gabriel Macaso. 

Meanwhile, the country’s top riders will also see action in the third leg of the Philippine NAMSSA Motocross Championships slated on the same weekend of the continental event.
