MANILA, Philippines - Multi-titled Cebuana Lhuillier lived up to its billing as the country’s top ranked softball team as it beat Fattboyz, 14-9, to emerge champion in the Super Division of the recently-concluded 2011 PANGAEA Cup slo pitch softball tournament held at the Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa.
With its victory over the United States -based Fattzboys, the undefeated Cebuana Lhuillier posted a back to back performance as the team likewise dominated last year’s Super Division at the PANGAEA Cup, one of the longest-running softball tournaments in the country.
The three-day tournament, which attracted seven foreign teams and four local clubs, saw The Hong Kong Turkeys make short work of another foreign team, the Guzzlers from Korea with the Turkeys posting an easy 12-2 victory to rule the Division A of the tournament, sponsored by Cebuana Lhuillier, Handlebar, San Miguel Beer, and the Lifeline Ambulance Rescue.
The Singapore River Rats, meanwhile, took the Club Division title, beating local team Meralco, 18-13, to complete the winners’ list in the tournament.
