Eagle Ridge volleyball under way

MANILA, Philippines –  The first Eagle Ridge Invitational men’s volleyball tournament gets going today with six collegiate teams clashing for the title at the Family Clubhouse of the sprawling Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club complex in Gen. Trias, Cavite.

Far Eastern U, University of the Philippines and Ateneo make up the teams from the UAAP which will take on the challenge of La Salle-Dasmariñas, Perpetual Help System Laguna and St. Dominic Savio College in a grueling one-day exhibition series sponsored by Gatorade, LG and East Asia Property Development Corp.

Format of competition is single round-robin among three teams in the eliminations with the top two teams from each group advancing to the step-ladder finals.

At stake is a cash prize of P20,000 plus medals and trophy for the winner, P10,000 plus medals and trophy for the runner-up and P5,000 plus medals and trophy for the third-placer.

The tournament kicks off the summer activities at the country’s largest golf club boasting of four 72-hole championship courses and topnotch facilities for basketball, tennis, badminton and table tennis plus a swimming pool and a badminton hall.

Coinciding with the volleyball event is the members monthly medal golf tournament with prizes at stake.
