MANILA, Philippines - Members of the victorious Del Monte team in the recent Philippine Airlines Interclub lead the chase for top honors in the Mindanao Regional Amateur golf championship beginning today at Del Monte in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
Clyde Mondilla, the reigning national champion, heads the list of aspirants seeking all-expenses paid stints to the Philippine Amateur slated April 12-15 at the Riviera in Silang, Cavite.
Noel Langamin and Banny Abano, who helped anchor Del Monte’s romp in the Interclub, will also see action in the four-day tournament organized by the National Golf Association of the Philippines and backed by Pancake House and SOC Land.
Art Arbole and Paul Echaves of ICTSI-Canlubang and Zannie Boy Gialon of ICTSI-The Country Club are also entered in the event.
The 54-hole ladies tournament will start tomorrow.
A big number of caddies aged 25 years old and below have also been admitted into the tournament, backed by Del Monte, Callaway and Odyssey Golf.
The top three players in the men’s division that hail from the Mindanao region will get the free trips to the Philippine Am while the ladies side will offer two tickets to the national tilt.
