Que ends ninth in Avantha Masters

-

MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que failed to sustain the momentum of back-to-back 68s, slowing down with a final round of even-par 72 for joint ninth at the close of the Avantha Masters at the DLF Golf and Country Club in New Delhi.

Que holed out with a birdie for the 72 and a four-round aggregate of 279, nine off Indian winner S.S.P. Chowrasia.

Running eighth before the round, Que slid to ninth as he struggled with a 37 in the front nine before improving to 35 going home.

Another hometown bet Shiv Kapur caught up with Que at ninth with a two-under 70.

Chowrasia won his second Asian Tour title in dramatic fashion after closest rival Robert Coles of England bogeyed his closing hole.

Fifth after the first three rounds, Chowrasia fashioned out a stirring come-from-behind with a five-under 67 in the final day.

Chowrasia avoided a playoff as Coles bogeyed the final hole for a 70.

The Indian winner escaped with a one-stroke win with a 67-273.

He had earlier rounds of 70-69-67.

Gregory Havret rallied from eighth to third with a 68-275.

Robert-Jan Derksen came in fourth at 69-276 followed by Pablo Larrazabal and Sujjian Singh at 277 and Chinnarat Phadungsil and Mark Haastrup at 278.

Then came Que.

Mars Pucay was the next best Filipino finisher at 29th with 68-283.
