DLS-Lipa rules junior football

-

MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle-Lipa prevailed over Letran Calamba, 2-1, to capture the NCAA-South Juniors football crown at First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities, Tanauan City, Batangas, recently. The Chevrons completed a five-game sweep of the four-team NCAA-South Juniors tournament.

It was a hotly contested game between the two teams as they finished the first half scoreless.

But La Salle took advantage of Letran’s defensive lapses as Lorenzo Gherardelli scored in the 68th and 72nd minute in the second half.

Letran tried to come back late in the game, but their attacks were stopped by the defense of the Lipa-based booters until John Lester Pagaspas broke through for Letran’s lone goal.

La Salle and Letran forged the finals showdown after defeating Season 12 host Faith and San Beda College Alabang, respectively, in the semifinals.
