San Agustin takes charge on 2 fronts

MANILA, Philippines - Colegio San Agustin sent two teams to the top of their groups in the 13-Under category of the BEST Center-organized 15th Women’s Volleyball League over the weekend at the Xavier High School gym.

CSA-A got a free ticket to a third straight victory in Group A by walking over Espiritu Santo Parochial School, while CSA-B swamped Immaculate Heart of Mary College, 25-10, 25-7, for its third straight triumph in Group B. Both teams now lead their respective divisions of this Milo-sponsored tournament unscathed.

Other Group A matches saw Assumption Antipolo (1-2) also walking over Southville International School (0-2); and Jubilee Christian Academy (2-0) over St. Pedro Poveda College (2-1), 20-25, 25-19, 25-20.

Other Group B matches saw St. Scholastica’s College sharing 3-0 and the lead with CSA-B by winning over Assumption College (1-2), 25-19, 25-10; and Miriam College (2-1) over Holy Family School (0-3), 25-8, 25-6.

OB Montessori Greenhills logged two victories on Saturday and Sunday to up its standings to four straight wins in as many games in the 17-Under Developmental category.

Montessori trounced School of the Holy Spirit (1-1), 25-12, 25-16, then walked over Espiritu Santo Parochial School to stay on course with a possible finals duel with Group B leader Paref Rosehill School, which has five victories in its belt following wins over St. James Academy, 15-25, 25-10, 25-12, and Holy Family School (1-1), 25-20, 25-19.

Colegio de Santa Rosa Makati, Assumption, St. Mary’s College, St. Scholastica’s-Westgrove, Holy Trinity, La Salle-Antipolo, St. Paul-Makati and San Beda-Alabang also registered victories in the 17-Under Developmental class.
