Young pugs shine in PCSO meet

MANILA, Philippines -  Young upcoming fighters scored impressive wins in the second phase of the PCSO Metro Manila Amateur Boxing Championship series at the Cantada Sports Center in Taguig City over the weekend.

Lymuel Lingato of Taguig, one of the youngest participants in this event presented by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and supported by Mapecon and Toyota Balintawak, wowed the crowd with his performance in the 26-kilo category.

Other winners were Jimwell Cerro and Remart Gomez of Mandaluyong in the 40-kilo category, Joshua Emata of Valenzuela, Luis Evander Borje of Caloocan, Rhey Picandel of Mandaluyong and Samuel Lontayno of Taguig in 51 kgs. and Gilbert Dionisio, Arnold Bantang, John LIgas of Caloocan and Jovan Solmoro of Taguig (54 kgs.).

“The fans loved what they saw, and we were thrilled with how young and talented these boxers are,” said Edgardo Cantada of Joe Cantada Sports. “The next champions in Philippine boxing will come from them. Mark my word.”
