Minda regional stakes 5 slots in Phl Am golf

-

MANILA, Philippines -  Five all-expenses paid stints to the 2011 Philippine Amateur championship will be up for grabs when the National Golf Association of the Philippines holds its Mindanao Regional tournament on March 1-4 at Del Monte Golf Club in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

The 72-hole championship for men and 54-hole event for women aims to name the region’s best as the tournament will be open not only for Mindanao club members but to its male caddies as well.

Players coming from outside the Mindanao region are also welcome to join, but won’t be eligible to win the all-expenses paid slots as the organizing NGAP will give out those slots to the best-placed Mindanao golfers whether they win the event or not.

Entry fee for the event is pegged at P1,500 per player with three caddies that are endorsed by their respective clubs given a free pass. Three male players and two women will be given free trips and accommodation in Manila for the Phl Am slated April 12-15 at The Riviera in Silang, Cavite.

The Visayas Regional event, meanwhile, will be hosted by the Marapara Golf Club from March 12-15 with the NGAP dangling the same prizes to the winners coming from the region.

Tommy Manotoc, the NGAP director who chairs the agency’s national pool development, will be running the event. Deadline for registration is on Feb. 25. Inquiries can be coursed through the NGAP’s Manila office at (02) 5179778 or (0917)5607074 or the Del Monte golf club at (088)8555976-78 or (0927)8682163.
