Katigbak, Enriquez shine in Chairman's Cup

-

MANILA, Philippines - Gerald Katigbak carted away the lowest overall gross as he carded a one-over-par 73 while Nestor Enriquez won the overall low net after he returned with an eight-under-par 64 in the 13th Chairman’s Cup at the Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa City, Batangas.

Katigbak, a local club member with extensive knowledge of Malarayat’s three championship nine-hole courses, and Enriquez, thus, will take over the reign of Batangas Rep. Mark Llandro Mendoza and Toti Leus, who were victorious for two straight years from 2009.

Malarayat chairman Antonio Turalba Sr., in whose honor the tournament was held, expressed elation over the turnout of the event held for the benefit of 30 scholars of the Hilario & Febres Communities of Dela Salle Lipa, through the Turalba Foundation.

“Once again, I would like to thank the members and guests for supporting the cause of foundation. Hopefully, we can reach out to more deserving kids next year,” said Turalba, who is the chairman of the Active Group, the developer of Mt. Malarayat.

John Elepano (net 68) and Dong Mendoza (gross 74) finished champion and runner-up in Division I of the event sponsored by Turf Co., Pacsports, Kart Plaza, MJCarr Management, Prudential Guarantee and Assurance, Toyota Batangas, YKK Phils., Omnium Phils. and AVT Properties.

Alex Palines (net 68) and Arnie Fuentebella (gross 83) grabbed the Division II honors of the one-day affair backed by Jetbest Multi-Lines Corp., Kia Lipa, San Agustin Realty, Inc., PIGTRA, Café de Lipa, 1st & 10th Tee Energy Bar and Philippine Wine Merchants.
