All-breed show up at Tiendesitas
MANILA, Philippines – The Toy Group Fanciers, Inc. (TGFI), an affiliate of the Asian Kennel Club Union of the Philippines, Inc. (AKCUPI), opens this year’s dog events with its first triple All-Breed Championship Show tomorrow at Tiendesitas, Ortigas Ave. in Pasig.
TGFI president John Irvin Uy said Filipinos Jester Jo Ong Chuan and Michael Buenaflor and Taiwanese Chang Wei Wei and Yeh Yuan Peng would serve as adjudicators.
Ong breeds American cocker spaniels in the country under the Kennel St. Joe’s. He and his family produced more than 50 champions, most of them local breeds.
Ong, president of the American Spaniel Club of the Philippines, an AKCUPI affiliate, officiated shows in the Philippines, China, Korea and Myanmar.
Buenaflor, who has been involved in the sport the last two decades, served as president of the Iloilo Kennel Club, director of the Western Visayas German Shepherd Dog Association, volunteer for the Animal Kingdom Foundation and was trained as dog rescuer by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. He is a licensed ring steward for both all-breed and Sieger/Landsgruppen shows and is currently director of the German Shepherd Dog Federation of the Philippines.
Chang has been with Taiwan’s oldest kennel club, the Taiwan Kennel Association (TKA), for 25 years during which he served as foreign affairs chairman. Chang is a licensed international all-breed judge and a known German Shepherd dog specialist judge. He officiated shows in Taiwan and Korea.
Yeh, an all-breed judge since 1993, is a breeder and exhibitor of various breeds – Boxers, Dobermans, Pinchers, Rottweilers, Chihuahuas, Mini-Pins, Pomeranians, Toy Poodles and Taiwan local dogs known as “Formosa Dog”. He served as director of the grooming department of TKA and adjudicated shows in Indonesia, China, Korea and Taiwan.
