Perpetual tossers score double

MANILA, Philippines –  The Perpetual Altas claimed two victories in the NCAA Volleyball Championships, beating Arellano U in the men’s division and topped San Sebastian in the juniors side at The Arena in San Juan recently.

The UPHSD-Las Piñas men’s team battled back from a set down to turn back Arellano, 22-25, 25-10, 25-16, 25-18, to sweep their best-of-three series while the Junior Altas swept the Staglets, 25-16, 25-15, 25-23, in their own side of the finals.

The Altas spikers have won the volleyball championships from 1985 to 1990 while the juniors scored a four-peat from 1988-1991.

John Eric Francisco bagged the MVP honors, while Pem Bagalay took the best spiker plum. Other awardees were Loiue Chavez (digger of the year) and Jr. Diomangay (setter of the year - jrs division). Jay dela Cruz won the digger of the year plum.
