Ramos returns as Air21 coach

MANILA, Philippines - Gerardo “Bong” Ramos gets his old job as head coach of the Air21 Express.

Ramos and the Air21 team management reached an agreement in a meeting yesterday, paving the way for Ramos’ takeover of the post vacated by Yeng Guiao.

The former Mapua Tech player gets a second tour of duty with the Express whom he coached in the early 2000s.

Ramos was the coach of the last FedEx Express squad before the franchise changed its name to Air21 in the 2004-2005 season. He also had stints as assistant coach at Barangay Ginebra and Talk n Text.

He’s returning to the PBA fresh from a tenure as head coach of the Brunei Barracudas.

He was chosen over Junel Baculi, Leo Isaac and Boyet Fernandez.
