Iloilo bets crush Cebu in URCC
MANILA, Philippines - Iloilo’s Delarmino brothers – Philip, Agustin and Leonard – stamped their class over their respective rivals to share the limelight in the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC)-Colt 45 Cebu VI at the Cebu International Convention Center Friday.
Leonard and Agustin Delarmino toppled their Cebuano rivals to capture the Visayan bantamweight and flyweight titles, respectively, in the event dubbed as Respect and presented by Colt 45 (Strong Beer for real Men).
The top gun of Iloilo’s Capanay MMA, Leonard used his striking techniques to beat Cebu’s Cary Bullos of Sel Def MMA in the second round of their three-round match while Agustin scored a technical knockout win over Maxilito Yong of Cebu’s Yawyan in the first round.
Philip Delarmino was equally impressive in beating Jhon Edu Torbiso of Wushu Kickboxing in their pinweight showdown in the event co-presented by Tribal Gear and held in conjunction with Cebu’s Sinulog celebrations.
Meantime, Victor Torre of Deftac Bacolod retained his Visayas pinweight title by whipping Mark Revalde of Yawyan Ardigma of Cebu while British expat Tom Woodfin posted a rear naked choke victory over Davao’s Ricardo Sapno.
Other winners in the event backed by Century Bangus with Solar Sports and 92.3 Killer Bee as media partners were pinweight Reynan “Limbas” Noblefrance of YawYan Ardigma who also scored a TKO win over Jessie Tambiling and welterweight Von Donaire (Deftac Cebu), who also scored a rear naked choke over Lorde Rey Yamit (Butuan Extreme MMA).
URCC founder and president Alvin Aguilar said the next URCC-Colt 45 event – the Baguio III – will be held at the Baguio Convention Center on Feb. 19.
