Expats mix it up in URCC-Sinulog

MANILA, Philippines - Unbeaten Leonard Delarmino and two foreign mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters slug it out in the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) Colt 45 Present the Cebu VI Respect Friday at the Cebu International Convention Center.

The eight-fight event – the first local undertaking of URCC president and founder Alvin Aguilar – also serves as part of the week-long celebration of the Sinulog festival.

Delarmino, the top gun of Iloilo’s Capanay MMA, headlines the fightcard as he battles Cary Bullos of Cebu’s Sel Def MMA while George Fansbaum, an American based in Cebu, will debut against local fighter Jimmy Yabo of Sel Def MMA.

Delarmino is seeking another crack at the Visayan bantamweight crown after being stripped of his title for failing to defend his crown in time. He is expected to rely on his superb striking while Bullos will be banking on his grappling techniques.

Tom Woodfin, a British expat, hopes to extend his unbeaten URCC record as he battles Davao’s Ricardo Sapno. Both Woodfin and Sapno are coming off impressive wins, thus expecting a keen competition in the event firing off at 7 p.m.

Also on tap in the event presented by Colt 45 (Strong Beer for Real Men) are two Visayan championship fights with Maxilito Yong of Cebu’s Yawyan staking his flyweight crown against Agustin Delarmino of Capanay MMA (Iloilo) while pinweight champion Victor Torre of Deftac Bacolod collides with Mark Revalde of Yawyan Ardigma of Cebu.

The three other fights scheduled in the event c o-presented by Tribal Gear and supported by Century Bangus with Solar Sports and 92.3 Killer Bee as media partners are the pinweight matches between Jessie Tambiling and Reynan Noblefrance, and Jonjer Torbiso and Siloy Analito and the welterweight tussle between Von Donaire and Adrian Hillana.
