Lady Falcons triumph
MANILA, Philippines - Adamson University repulsed University of the Phils., 25-22, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18, yesterday to firm up its hold of the third spot in the UAAP Season 73 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Falcons leaned on the heavy scoring of veterans Angela Benting (25 points) and Paulina Soriano (21), who combined for more kills than the entire UP squad, 40 against 39.
Shiela Pineda and Luisa Zapanta added 10 apiece for Adamson, which notched its fourth straight win for a 5-2 card behind unbeaten leaders La Salle and defending champion University of Santo Tomas (6-0).
Angeli Araneta and Carmela Lopez paced the Lady Maroons (1-5) with 14 markers each.
In the men’s division, La Salle and University of the Philippines took their fourth victories at the expense of separate rivals.
