Herrera St. Clare coach, sets tryouts

MANILA, Philippines –  St.Clare-Caloocan, owned by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas treasurer Dr. Ernesto Jay Adalem, has appointed former UE Warrior Mark Herrera as head coach of its senior team.

Herrera, also mentor of the Phl Under-13 youth team, takes over from Jimmy Mariano, who becomes the college’s athletic director.

Assisting Herrera, former assistant coach of PBL teams Burger King and Cobra Energy Drink, are Benjie Diswe, Albert Reyes and Nonoy Bonleon.

“I’m thankful to the St. Clare management for the opportunity to discover the boys’ talents and skills,” said Herrrera, whose team will also be supported by Wang’s Ball Club and 3K Scent.

Herrera is holding tryouts Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. at the St. Clare-Caloocan Zabarte basketball court for the upcoming 11th NAASCU season. Participants must be 24 years or below. Out of school youths are welcome.
