Laput team tops JGFP/ICTSI golf
MANILA, Philippines – Young pro Jong Laput teamed up with jungolfers Jama Reyes, Gerald Mactal and Jed Dy to top the recent ICTSI-JGFP Christmas Pro-Am Scramble at the Player course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Laput and his teammates combined for a 13-under-par 59 under the scramble format, then nipped the team of Danny Zarate, Eric Gallardo and Karl Tolentino via the countback with an eagle on the 12th hole for the top award in the 18-hole tourney that capped the year-long activities of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines and main backer ICTSI.
Marvin Dumandan and teammates Princess Superal and Liam Ramos finished third, Gene Bondoc’s team also made up of Ryu Yasuma, Santiago Lorenzo and Yuan Arbatin placed fourth. Erwin Vinluan, with Sebastian Lorenzo, Nigel Yu and Jan Soleil Punzalan, checked in fifth.
All three teams ended up with similar 60s.
The tourney was also supported by Philippine Airlines, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzilin Pepper, Dynamic Sports and Leisure Corp., McDonald’s, Smart, Golf Depot and Pioneer Insurance.
Meanwhile, to kick off the new year, the JGFP will be holding the Trained Brain Workshop to be conducted by PGA professional and Trained Brain Advanced coach Martin Robinson on Jan. 8, 2011, Saturday, 8 a.m.-12 noon at The Orchard Golf and Country Club.
Train Brain provides one-on-one counseling to clientele such as Lee Westwood. This is the first time this workshop will be offered in the country, and it will be free for JGFP members.
