Young Knights chess under way
MANILA, Philippines - The Young Knights Chess League reels off at 12:30 p.m., today, at Eton Cyberpod Corinthian, with grandmaster Wesley So heading the cast of participants.
Seeing action with So are GM Ronald Dableo, FM Julius Joseph de Ramos, FM Jan Emmanuel Garcia and other notable players like NM Leo Carlos, NM Jake dela Cruz, NM Marlon Bernardino, NM Emmanuel Emperado, WNM Aices Salvador, Jan Jodilyn Fronda and sister Jayveelyn, Mark Nazario, Timothy So Kua, Jan Nigel Galan, Giovanni Mejia, Miguel Lahoz, Christian Flores and Daryl Samantila.
A total pot of P90,000 is at stake with the Open champion receiving P20,000 while the winners in the Intermediate/Beginner and Preparatory sections will get P4,500 and P2,500, respectively, plus trophies. Special cash award also awaits the top performers in U2000; U1900; ladies; and best scorers in Prep 1; Prep 2, Prep 3; Intermediate; Jr and Sr Beginners.
