Hizon rules De Castro shootfest
MANILA, Philippines – Darius Hizon hit 45 out of the possible 50 clays to top the Aggregate division of the first Nestor de Castro shootfest at the Goma Sport Range in Taytay, Rizal recently.
Nick Laconico and Nonoy Bernardo tallied 38 and 37 points to finish second and third, respectively, in the event which drew 50 of the country’s top shooters.
Jose Paolo Soler and one-time Philippine team skeet shooter Tet Lara ended up joint fourth with 36 points.
Meanwhile, Joey Valdes ruled the Seniors division with 41 points, beating Gabriel Tong, who registered 38 points. Sonny Lim scored 33 points for third.
Boy Zapanta topped the Veterans class with 35 points, beating Ed Mijares by two, while Miguel Laperal came away with victories in the Tyro and Junior divisions in the event named after one of the forerunners of sporting clays shooting.
Javi Valdes fired 37 points to cop the 20 Gauge class diadem.
