The Subic International Marathon, considered as the greenest and safest foot race, fires off on Jan. 9 at the Remy Field inside the Subic Bay.
Registration is also now in full swing at all Chris Sports branches nationwide. Folks in Olongapo, on the other hand may, register at the Subic Residencias.
“Our registration in partner venues will be only until December 29. But late registration will be allowed through the online facility,” said Gen. Sam Tucay, founder of this event, which is currently on its third staging in the international level.
“We are excited to show the splendor of Subic as race destination in the Philippines,” added Gen. Tucay. “Fresh air, spectacular terrain, and a wonderful community are ingredients to a memorable marathon or fun run.”
This year’s staging of the SIM supported by Smart Sports, 100 Plus, Summit Drinking Water, Deuter, iFitness, Subic EnerZone, Ceres, Global Destiny Cable, MultiSport, OneSport and Jam 88.3 FM is expected to draw around 13,000 runners competing in the 42-K main event as well as 21-K, 10-K, 5-K and 3-K races.
SIM race director Eric Imperio, who also directed the 70.3 Ironman Challenge and the 10-10-10 Pasig Run, believes the SIM has the making of becoming a world-class standard.
“Runners will be given race chips, which we got from an Australian company, to monitor the time of the participants consistently. Portalets will also be made available in the race course while drinking stations will also be provided to them every 1.5-kilometers of the race,” added Imperio.
