MANILA, Philippines - Close finishes marked the year-end members tournament of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite with Korean expat Hi Jung-lee the only winner to post a margin of more than two strokes.
Lee, playing in the Class D division, tallied a net 64 for a six-stroke victory over Peter Sy to finally join the list of monthly winners of the country’s largest golf club.
Si Kun Ryoo, George Samonte, Renato Abundo, Alberto Monreal, Rudy Villanueva, Nila Patricio and Tess Rutherford completed the roster of winners.
Ryoo scored a 69 for a one-stroke win over Ping Nepomuceno in Class A, Samonte carded a 67 to nip Ramil Villanueva and Guillermo Telmo by one in Class B, Abundo also had a one-stroke win over Jose Ong in Class C, Monreal nipped Ruper Pangilinan also by one with a 70 in Senior 1. In Senior 2 Rudy Villanueva also edged Mario Lugay by one.
In ladies action, Patricio (74) broke out of a slump for a one-shot win over Jeong Sook-cho in the A division. Rutherford (73) prevailed over Gu Im-kwon (74). In the dependents division Dan Emilio Cruz was one ahead of Juan David Romero with 66 while Catherine Borja (73) routed Gung Jeon-lee (84).
Coming off a big member-guest tourney where it raffled off two Hyundai Accents and also awarded a prime Sta. Lucia lot to a hole-in-one winner, Eagle Ridge is preparing for more member-related events in 2011 with the first monthly tourney set on Jan. 8 and the seniors event on Jan. 15.
