-

MANILA, Philippines –  The University of the East (UE) ruled the women and juniors fencing divisions in the 73rd University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) competitions held Dec. 9-11 at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym.

The UE Lady-Warriors swept all the six gold medals at stake in the individual and team foil, epee and saber events, to bag UE’s fourth UAAP fencing overall title.

Lady-Warrior Jamie Nicanor, a BSEd junior, won her second straight Most Valuable Player award, garnering three gold medals in the individual foil and the team epee and foil events.

MVP Nicanor’s younger brother Michael, a BSEd freshman, took the Rookie of the Year (RY) plum for his two silver medals in the individual and team foil events plus two bronze medals in the individual and team saber events in the men’s division.

Junior-Warrior Nathaniel Perez, third year student at UE Secondary Laboratory School, captured the MVP and ROY awards for his two gold medals in the individual and team foil events, to help the UE Junior-Warriors to their first UAAP overall title.
