DFA officer clinches gold in national open shootfest

MANILA, Philippines - Patrick Chuasoto, special assistant at the office of the secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs, topped the air pistol metallic silhouette iron sight event during the 2010 Philippine Open Shooting Championships at the PSC/Marine range in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.

Chuasoto, a diplomat who held several positions in various United Nations committees during his tour of duty at the Philippine Mission to the United Nations in New York, garnered 30 points to win over veterans Richard Acoymo (27) and Ronald Robles (25) during the competitions held Dec. 12.

Chuasoto returned to shooting after his posting to New York where he was alternate representative to the United Nations Security Council in 2004-2005, chairman of the UN Committee on Conferences in 2008 and rapporteur of the UN Administrative and Budget Committee from 2008-2009.

The tournament was organized by the Philippine National Shooting Association (PNSA).
