Toby's junior volley slated

MANILA, Philippines - The Toby’s Juniors Volleyball League kicks off its sixth season tomorrow with four matches, two each on the boys’ and girls’ sides, on tap at the Lyceum gym in Intramuros.

Colegio San Agustin takes on St. Joseph College at 9 a.m. while Concepcion Elem. School battles Palanan ES at 10 a.m. in a pair of clashes in the boys’ division of the league sponsored by Toby’s Sports and organized by Metro Sports.

De La Salle-Zobel and Miriam College fire off hostilities in the girls’ category as they tangle at 1 p.m. while Colegio San Agustin tests De La Salle-Canlubang’s mettle in the 2 p.m. encounter.

The event comes on the heels of the successful staging of the LBC Men’s Volleyball League as Metro Sports, headed by Freddie Infante, continues to boost the sport while giving the grade schoolers a venue where they could display their talent and skills.

Each category features 10 teams divided into two brackets with La Salle-Lipa, Xavier School, Elizabeth Seton School, Ateneo, St. Mary’s Academy and Claret School completing the boys’ cast in the league backed by Shakey’s Pizza, LBC, Mikasa and Asics.

Also vying in the girls’ side are defending champion La Salle-Lipa, F, Benitez III ES, Elizabeth Seton School, MGC New Life Academy, Diliman Prep. School and St. Mary’s Academy.

Format will be a single round robin elims to be played in best-of-three sets, rally point system. The top two teams in each bracket will advance to the crossover semis with the winners clashing for the crown.
