MANILA, Philippines - Boy Alcantara fired a gross 79 for a net 69 to capture the Group I title while Daniel Go and Eymard Agbing topped Groups II and III, respectively, in the Architects Golf Club monthly tournament at the Forest Hills Golf and Country Club recently.
Edgar Lee, also a 10-handicapper, carded an 83 and finished second to Alcantara while Wilson Lim placed third with a gross 90 for a net 74.
Go turned in an 83 for a net 75 then nipped Christopher Ong, who also had a net 75 from a gross 95, in the countback for the Group II plum. Ric Mongalo took third place with a net 76 from a gross 94.
Agbing, on the other hand, shot a net 66 from a gross 91 as he ran away with the Group C title. Julian Confesor made a gross 94 for a net 70 then edged Andrei Amadeo, who had a gross 93, in the countback.
Juanito Beredo took the Group IV crown with a net 70 from a gross 98, beating Nestor Reyes, who had gross 100 for a net 72, and Joven Guevarra, who made a gross 102 for a net 73, while Bobby Cheng emerged champion in Group V with a net 71 from a gross 103. Joy Arcenas finished second with a 112 for a net 76, nipping Albert Uy, who had a gross 108, in the countback.
Meanwhile, Sonny Esguerra won the grand raffle prize of Suzuki-Alto during awards rites at the Valle Verde clubhouse.
