Yu-De Villa shines in Chairman's Cup

-

MANILA, Philippines - Jayson Yu and partner Angela de Villa scored a double victory on Saturday when they won the low gross and low net championships of the 2010 Chairman’s Cup of the Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martirez, Cavite.

Yu and De Villa, one of the country’s top junior golfers, shot a combined four-under 68 gross at the Jack Nicklaus signature course of Sherwood Hills. When their handicaps were applied, they pooled in a net 10-under 62 for the best net output.

This was the second time that this happened in the Chairman’s Cup. The team up of Sherwood Hills chairman Robert John Sobrepeña and Jeric Hechanova made the first feat a couple of years back.

Mori Mendoza and guest Bobby Chico of Eagle Ridge ran away with the Division I title in the event sponsored by Golforce Inc., Federal Management and Maintenance, Club Leisure, CJH Golf Club, CJH Manor, Custom Clubmakers/KZG, IPI, Manila Southwoods, Southwoods Manor, G&W Clubshares, WS Sports and Turf Company.

The Division II crown went to Nelson Lu and John Elepano in the tournament which had Forest Hills, Warbird, Whealth Inc., APGC, Greens N Turf, Interconnect Systems, Isuzu Phils., Philgreen, Nine Coast, Primepower Manpower Services, PBR Law Office, Rizgolf, Royal Northwoods, Rudy Project and Splendido Taal as backers.

The duos of Tony Villaruel and Rex Armada and Nila Patricio and Greely Oposa were runners-up in the Division I and II, respectively. Monching Trinos triumphed in the guest division.
